Rob Middleton & Gary Plazyk’s 2008 Schedule

Gary and Rob

Hi!

Rob and I are looking forward to a busy and fun 2008 season!  Here are our upcoming performances.

Check back here soon – we are presently confirming dates for a number of performances; please remember to click on “Reload” or “Refresh” on your web browser to get the current listing.

Thanks for coming out to see us!

SPECIAL NOTE – Rob had double bypass surgery on 9/2/08 – his appearances in September and October will depend on how quickly his recovery progresses.  Unless otherwise noted, the events in our schedule will still happen, with possibly Amy Beth and Neal Brown (along with Gary, forming the “Kishwaukee Ramblers”) filling in for Rob.  We hope Rob will be back with us soon!

Best regards,

-Gary P.

Singing will begin at 3:00 PM and continue until we can no longer resist the scents of our potluck supper. For directions, please call the church at 815-923-4203.  For all other details please e-mail Ryan Wheeler at rwheelerfasola@yahoo.com. “If you respond to the pulsing beat, the rich harmonies, the powerful poetry, or the deep spiritual current of a Sacred Harp singing, you are joining generations of Americans who have found sustenance and joy in this musical tradition.” - Lisa Grayson, A Beginner's Guide to Shape-Note Singing, 1997. You may have heard this unforgettable sound in the movie Cold Mountain, or the PBS special Amazing Grace.  What they don't adequately convey is that this is really music for singers!  Please come and join us! For more information about shape-note singing, and The Sacred Harp hymnal, check out http://fasola.org/  and http://www.2ndmdinfantryus.org/Fasola2.html .  For a listing of singings in the Chicago area, check out http://www.woodbros.com/Singings.html (Gary, with the Chicago Sacred Harp Singers)
